Lucky Number Seven

myriade90

Last night I finally managed to get that last 70%+ done, so after almost two years Myriade is finally max level! Yay!

Timing could’ve been better, I admit, since she’s hitting 90 the same day of the instant boosts. I’ve saved a whole set of Timeless Isle gear so she gets to skip the grind, which is a good thing because I haven’t dared to take her there just yet. Ah, downsides of being stuck on a PVP server…

Still, seventh toon to hit 90 now, hurray!

WoW Screenshot a Day Challenge – September 15-21

Back to yet another unintended catch-up session! (It’s always unintended, I swear. I just… really need to work on my organizational skills :P)

Day 15: Season

Ordos' bright and fiery colours remind me of autumn - my favourite season! (Though he's faaaar from my favourite world boss...)

Day 21: Rule of thirds

Not precisely following the visual rule of thirds, BUT - have three Fallen Protectors and six raiders! (Multiples of three totally count, right? Right?)

Weekday Waffles: Patchy Edition

Patch day today! Not too long to go now as of this writing, assuming they manage to meet their “scheduled” maintenance hours.

I’m excited for all the new content, but also ridiculously exhausted right now, because I’ve spent a loooong night power-leveling my way through the last four levels on my gnome mage, and then dragging her through the Hordebreaker questline.

That was the ONE thing I wanted to accomplish before 5.4 hit (aside from valor-capping on the main, which didn’t take very long). I’d initially planned to get it done over the weekend, but it was Pallytank’s grandmother’s 85th (I think, no one seemed to be sure…) birthday and we had to travel back to his hometown for the celebration. I almost thought I wouldn’t have enough time, having never tried to really rush through leveling before, but as it turns out I am pretty damn good at last minute pushes. Gotta thank all those late-night essay writing sprees I did back in university for that. 😀

And so, I present to you: Funderling, Double Agent and Hordebreaker!

Not too sure why the achievement graphic bugged out like that, but eh.

hordebreaker

Oh Shaohao, you don't have to bow to me just because I'm a Hordebreaker! STOP IT, YOU.

Oh Shaohao, you don’t have to bow to me just because I’m a Hordebreaker! STOP IT, YOU.

I think I’ll take a break from leveling for now, though. Having six (!) max level toons and only a couple truly raid-ready is a little silly. It’ll be fun to spend time working on that!

Speaking of raids, I think we’ll only be starting normals next week. Pallytank and I are going out of town for a friend’s engagement party and our raid leader has a work event/training/thing, so this week’s raid is canceled. Real Life boss strikes again! We MAY try out flex raiding for fun and giggles, depending on interest. Either way, it doesn’t really matter to me – being in a solid and steady group after such a long period of drifting and pugging makes for happytimes.

As for the WoW Screenshot a Day Challenge, yes I’ve missed the last few days again – my quest to become Funderling the Hordebreaker pretty much wiped out everything else from my mind. I promise to get all caught up again lickety-split!

…After I have a nap.

…AFTER I check out ALL THE THINGS, because RIGHT as I was about to hit post, I noticed that realms are up! HOLYCRAP GOTTA GO 5.4 IS HERE.

WoW Screenshot a Day Challenge!

So in typical me fashion, I’ve decided to hop on the bandwagon and take up Tycertank‘s WoW screenshot a day challenge! I’m horrifically late – also in typical me fashion – pretty much due to my habit of playing the game (hence, taking all the screenshots) on my desktop but blogging from my work laptop. If you think this leads to a lot of incomplete posts with [[INSERT PICTURE HERE]] breaks littered everywhere, you’d be right. The amount of posts I have sitting in my drafts folder as a direct result of this is mind-blowing.

Organisation and time management skills: I haz them not.

I’ll be playing catch-up on the two weeks that I’ve missed, but splitting them into separate chunks to avoid being TOO image-heavy on the posts. That, and also because I only found out about this challenge last week, I’ve only actually been taking screenshots since then. The first seven days’ worth are pictures in my head only.

…Yeah, I gotta fix that. I’m on it, I swear.

Meanwhile, here are my entries for Days 8-15 of the challenge in reverse chronological order!

Day 15: The best

Because being a quest giver and meeting Johnny Awesome was pretty much the best thing. (Featuring: Myriade + Johnny AWESOME)

Day 14: Trash

Not sure what broken carts, old hay and flies are doing in the house Yoon supposedly lives in, tbh... This is why I need to be best friends with Gina Mudclaw all the time. (Featuring: Tyel)

Day 13: Fast

FIRST RULE OF ROLL CLUB: YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT ROLL CLUB. Aka I was rolling so fast I forgot I was supposed to be taking pictures. (Featuring: Xerna)

Day 12: Macro

Confession: the 'tips' on the loading screen still teach me new things. Like auto-run, and opening my macro menus.

Day 11: I love doing this!

Raiding is still my favourite thing ever; raiding with a really fun group even more so. (Featuring: Xerna + Pallytank + really fun group + dead Durumu)

Day 10: Beverage

Kun Lai quest where you roll barrels of beer at adds to blow them up. I may or may not have done it multiple times on different toons just for the kabooms. Also, ignore my DK's fantastically mismatched gear. (Featuring: Khione)

Day 9: 2 o’clock

The glyphed Borrowed Time visual disappears really quickly so the fact that I somehow managed to screenshot at EXACTLY 2 o'clok is pretty dang brag-worthy. (Featuring: Teavee)

Day 8: Peekaboo

The cloud serpent hatching scene is ridiculously adorable, I JUST WANNA SQUSIH THOSE GOLDEN CHEEKS AHH (Featuring: Isolah's ridiculously adorable cloud serpent hatchling <3)

If you’re wondering why I’m specifying which of my toons are featured in the shots: my guildies have been accusing me of favouritism amongst my alts. THESE FALSEHOODS MUST BE DISPELLED.

Quintessential Quintet!

True story: this time last year I had ONE character at max level and ONE alt who was often neglected in favour of my doing ALL THE THINGS on my druid. (In my defense, account-wide achievements/pets/mounts didn’t exist then and I wanted them aaaaall.)

Fast forward twelve months and Teavee the Goblin Priest now holds the record for fastest-leveled toon. You know what they say – time is money, friend!

Next stop, Double Agent! (Oh god someone stop me HALP)

Weekday Waffles

It seems as though every time I am inspired or motivated to write a post, the universe conspires to prevent my doing so. I’m aware this doesn’t make me special in any shape or form, but hey – it’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😀

Anyway, said recent universe-driven conspiracy was both work and family related, and is to date the worst possible combination of a double whammy I’ve experienced, particularly as the problems weren’t entirely mutually exclusive. But, welp, c’est la vie, I’ve gotten through the crappiest bit and emerged (knock on wood) relatively sane, with a renewed appreciation for the emotional and mental distraction that WoW provides.

Stuff that I’ve done recently in-game:

  • server transferred my druid along with the Pallytank and one of our guildies (okay, this was back in April/May and isn’t all that recent). I went resto, joined a raiding guild with the Pallytank, and had to deal with the raid leads randomly deciding after about four-five weeks to disband the group (still not sure why…). Then we joined a pug group from trade that did RIDICULOUSLY well – 5/12 in about two and a half hours – fingers crossed, we may make it a proper group thing now and get to kill more things!
The nature of pugging means I have yet to tire of this cutscene.

The nature of pugging means I have yet to tire of this cutscene.

  • dusted off the death knight (that I power-leveled to 90 and promptly forgot about) and learnt how to tank amidst much panicking and pathetic whimpering every time overgeared DPSers in heroic dungeons pull aggro off me
  • rolled a goblin priest, went disc, and discovered just how fun it is to be that irritating, unkillable, atonement-smiting priest in low level PVP
  • flailed around a bit on my gnome mage… and draenei paladin (it seems I may have a growing problem with alts)

There’s a distinct lack of focus, ’tis true, but I’ve found that hopping around has kept me from getting too disheartened by my lack of progression this tier. I like learning new roles and classes; it lets me see the game from a different perspective.

Learning to tank has been a boost to my confidence. Last week I finally reached the minimum ilvl for Throne of Thunder’s LFR and I am pretty darned proud of the fact that I tanked Lei Shen without dying, more so because I was solo-tanking it for the last 5% after my co-tank died with all battle-rezzes used. Sure, the encounter’s been nerfed and yes, there were some awesome healers keeping me up, BUT it is still something I managed to pull off successfully despite the multiple “tank sucks, undergeared 490 phail” comments I’d received in other instances. Now I have something to remind myself that I can be a perfectly acceptable tank even if people think otherwise. It can only get better from here! (Next stop: add-tanking on Horridon. Ugh... I mean, bring it!)

As for Atonement, I’m enjoying the mini-game of healing-by-dpsing. It’s really just me messing around having fun with it in PVP; being fully decked out in heirlooms probably makes it extra strong. We’ll see! I plan on leveling her to 90 next.

Teavee the Priest ought to remind Garrosh of some things…

Also: waffles. Mm.
